Won't Live To See
I have a dream; won't live to see
I die to live; death won't let me
I see Canaan
I beheld it at an early age
I refused the fortune
It fought me subconsciously
I perceive la dolce vita, but won't enjoy it
My alter ego slaves my ego
Great, yet ruled
I see death and blessing
I die to live; death won't let me
I see Canaan
I beheld it at an early age
I refused the fortune
It fought me subconsciously
I perceive la dolce vita, but won't enjoy it
My alter ego slaves my ego
Great, yet ruled
I see death and blessing
But I opt for death; it best suits me
I long for it; attractive it looks
Dreams are darkened
Hopes force into 'airless' container
Sweeter than fresh breath is suffocation
Now melancholic rendition pleases the ear better
Decadence wrestles the one after God's heart
They say I'm great
I say I'm not
I feel the heat; know best
Sun eclipsed.
I long for it; attractive it looks
Dreams are darkened
Hopes force into 'airless' container
Sweeter than fresh breath is suffocation
Now melancholic rendition pleases the ear better
Decadence wrestles the one after God's heart
They say I'm great
I say I'm not
I feel the heat; know best
Sun eclipsed.
This is my first self-written post, and it's a poem about one with enormous talents but sees it go down the drain due to one's Achilles hill. Hope you enjoy it. Feel free and share your comments as that create a serene academic environment.
